Description
GENERAL FUNCTION:
This is a Telephony Senior Netowrk Engineer position that focuses on design, implementation and troubleshooting of Telephony harware and software.  Implements telephony hardware and software systems such as VOIP and CTI.  Troubleshoots voice services issues and maintains data communications equipment.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Resolves complex telephony problems.
2. Responsible for IP telephony voice communication architecture and its associated network connections and component hardware.
3. Manages engineering projects for VoIP initiatives, planning technology roadmaps, and configuring and optimizing VoIP/IP-PBX telephone systems and services
4. Lead the design and development of Computer Telephony Integration (CTI) solutions.
5. Evaluates and recommends new voice and data products and vendors.
6. Write functional and technical specifications
7. Provides technical training of users and operational personnel on new systems.
8. Proactively monitors network and connections and notifies senior staff of potential issues and capacity changes.
9. Works as part of a team with user and/or customer staff to determine project requirements, goals, implementation schedules, etc. Purchases equipment under existing agreements. 
10. Conducts research on new technologies and makes relevant recommendations to management.
11. Other duties as required.

Experience/Skills


MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:


Undergraduate degree in related field, with 4+ years of experience.
High degree of competency (expert) using/understanding computer telephony systems
High degree of knowledge of physical media network protocols, network equipment, and associated electronics related to job
Experience with and excellent knowledge of Avaya products (S8700, Definity G3, Audix, Untuity LX, Voice Response, WFM, CMS, ACD's, Call Vectoring, CTI, Logging)
Knowledge of TCP/IP, Cisco VoIP, network management applications preferred
Project management methodology knowledge
