GENERAL FUNCTION: 
Implements telephony hardware and software systems. Troubleshoots voice services issues and maintains data communications equipment.
The position is on the Technical/Professional ladder at level 3 in the Network Engineering discipline.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 
1. Resolves moderately complex telephony problems.
2. Responsible for installation and troubleshooting of data communications equipment utilized in the network. Installs and programs voice services system hardware and software (e.g., Frame Relay, Avaya Voice platforms, Conversant, Cisco Systems).
3. Evaluates and recommends new voice and data products and vendors.
4. Produces end user documentation for PBX and voicemail training and reference through manuals, intranet reference and on-site training.
5. Designs call center routing programming, including the automation of information, to efficiently route calls to call center personnel.
6. Provides technical training of users and operational personnel on new systems.
7. Proactively monitors network and connections and notifies senior staff of potential issues and capacity changes.
8. Works as part of a team with user and/or customer staff to determine project requirements, goals, implementation schedules, etc. Purchases equipment under existing agreements.
9. Responsible for systems performance and resolution of production incidents, which requires 24x7 on-call coverage.
10. Conducts research on new technologies and makes relevant recommendations to management.
11. Other duties as required.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Undergraduate degree, with 4+ years of experience.
High degree of competency using/understanding computer telephony systems.
High degree of knowledge of physical media network protocols, network equipment, electronics related to job
Experience with Avaya products (S8700, Definity G3, Audix, Intuity LX, Partners, Voice Response, CMS, ACD?s Call Vectoring)
Knowledge of TCP/IP, Cisco, network management applications preferred
Project Management preferred
