JOB SUMMARY:
Serves as lead software architect, designer, and developer for the Kuali Project at MSU; provides daily supervision and direction to the technical development team working on the Kuali Project at MSU; independently meets with customers to determine information technology status, desires, needs, and cross-system issues related to Kuali or other projects of highest sensitivity or complexity and relays this information to the team; performs systems design tasks, including integration of business functions, interface design, and database design; develops, tests, and implements complex software solutions in JAVA; acts as a resource, on a consistent basis, to AIS and other professional staff in the resolution of IT problems related to Kuali and the use of JAVA; independently plans or leads projects of highest technical complexity and long duration; serves as a second level support for users of the Kuali system; participates in consultations with users of the Kuali system; for more information on Kuali go to munities/kfs/faq-kfs.shtml.df-tc

Experience/Skills
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
1) A bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, business, or related information technology field, with coursework in an information technology specialization related to the area of employment;
2) more than five years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in overseeing complex technology projects featuring the extensive use of JAVA and supervision of a technical team;
3) or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
a) Demonstrable experience in planning, designing, and developing business applications in JAVA;
b) demonstrable experience in the technical support of higher education financial, accounting, procurement, budget, or sponsored research functions and systems;
c) demonstrable experience in problem investigation and problem determination; excellent interpersonal and written and oral communication skills;
d) application development leadership in a multi-programmer environment; demonstrable experience creating Web business application systems using JAVA servlets, JNI, MI, Struts, JDBC, WebStart, Spring, JNLP, JCA, JAAS, JNDI, JMS, and JTA;
e) experience with C, C++, Eclipse, ANT, and TomCat; experience with Oracle databases is preferred.
