SELECTED CANDIDATE must have a strong experience on the UNIX (HP & Solaris) & Linux Red Hat side with some exposure to Oracle databases. MISSION: Responsible for overall operation, enhancement and administration of the servers, PBX and network systems to support business applications in an optimal manner. Primary goals are security, quality of service, and uptime. Assist on helpdesk support as needed. CRITICAL TASKS: 1. Responsible for overall systems (server, network & storage system) administrative duties. Responsible for installation, configuration, tuning, maintenance, and inventory of all servers/network equipment and server software. 2. Monitor servers, network performance and utilization to identify potential problems and bottlenecks. Recommend and implement performance-tuning improvements. 3. Design, deploy, document, and maintain the network infrastructure. Install, configure, implement and maintain network services. 4. Keep all servers up to date with the latest stable Operating System version including available patches/hot fixes making sure software/applications compatibility. 5. Responsible for Network Systems Security (user access, security barriers & protection, intrusion detection, etc.) Establish and enforce adequate security policies and standard operating procedures. 6. Manage configuration and maintenance of PBX, network and systems hardware and operating systems software to ensure optimal performance. 7. Develop and maintain standards, procedures and inventories related to system functions and operations. 8. Document our server and network procedures along with the logical and physical structure of our systems. 9. Work with Information Services manager to develop and implement plans for hardware acquisition in compliance with the company's long-term goals. 10. Act as liaison with hardware, software and service vendors for all acquisitions and repair. Create Capital Expenditure Requisitions as necessary. 11. Assist in daily management of user needs including printing and disk space allocation, as well as security rights assignment. 12. Assist on maintenance, installation and inventory of all PC hardware and software. 13. Assist on coordinating, resolving desktop support service requests from users, both hardware and software. 14. Assist on running network cables to offices and cubes to add additional nodes, replace defective cables or improve network performance, working with the necessary tools to complete these tasks. 15. Assist in configuration and maintenance of phone system and voice-mail, including adding new users, moving extensions to different office locations, tracing and connecting phone wires. 16. Assist in maintenance of disaster recovery plan/procedures including but not limited to daily, weekly and monthly backups. 17. Carry a rotating pager for on-call support during regular business hours and off-hours. SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES: 1. Must have 8+ years of experience working with UNIX systems (Red Hat Linux AS or higher version preferred, Sun Solaris and HP-UX), MS Windows XP Pro/2000/2003 and MS Exchange Server 2003 2. Must have 3+ years of experience with Windows 2003 Active Directory, NIS, LDAP installation, configuration and administration. 3. Knowledge of TCP/IP protocol, HTTP, DCHP, WINS, DNS and other network services. 4. Experience with both voice (PBX, voicemail) and data telecommunications. (DSL, T-1, T-3) 5. Experience working with Cisco switches and routers, BigIP Load Balancer and CheckPoint NG Firewall. 6. Experience installing, configuring and administering a network & servers monitoring tool such as SiteScope. 7. Experience with Veritas/Legato Backup Systems and Tape Storage Libraries. 8. Experience in troubleshooting hardware (systems, and peripherals) and system software questions and/or problems. 9. Experience in installation of hardware (systems, components and peripherals) and software (original, upgrades and patches) - stand-alone and network. 10. Experience with Unix shell scripting language (Perl is a plus). 11. Experience with supporting/implementing Linux Red Hat OS platform for Oracle 9
