STEC SW Engineer

Responsiblities: Software Engineer for the Space Test and Engineering Contract (STEC).

Responsibilities include the design, development, integration, validation and maintenance of Mission Unique Software and mission databases, ground segment platforms, and operating systems for STEC. Participate in IPTs.

Generate and maintain documentation required for mission unique items. Support analysis, development, and modification of the ground system architecture.

Follow standard processes for engineering functions to include testing, reuse, and CM. Promote or demote databases and files across the operational, regression, and development environments. Perform housekeeping functions and collect metrics. Recover mission files as required. Position is on-site in government customer facility at Kirtland AFB. No relocation is available.

Open to next higher grade level. Final grade determination will be based on requirements and qualifications of the candidate.

Requirements: Experience in the following areas is required:
. Must have a minimum of 2 years software design and coding of software systems .

Must have previous work with large multi-programmer teams.
. Working understanding of Object Oriented Programming is required . Must be fluent in Java, C, and C++ programming languages and Unix operating system.
.

Must have understanding of data streams, instruction control streams and machine connectivity.
. Must have working knowledge of data set definitions, machine to machine transactions, data parsers, and data integrity.
. Must support industry best practices of project design, code design, code review, and CMMI.
. Excellent oral and written communications and personal interaction skills required to work in the Gray Badge team environment.

Experience in the following areas is an asset:
. A current TS/SSBI clearance is desired.
. Experience working with telemetry, satellite or aerospace preferable.
. Experience working in a DoD environment is preferred.
