Description
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Work on the OpenSolaris team that runs and supports the public opensolaris.org website: * Produce clean, error-free and /well documented/ technical solutions. * When possible, develops reusable components or code. * Works with the engineering team for conceptual design and implementation. * Estimates required level of effort on own behalf.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:* Strong working knowledge of XML, HTML 4, XHTML 1, XSL, CSS, Web Standards, JavaScript, specifically in the development or support of medium-large web sites. * Thorough knowledge of current standards and browser/platform variance. * Experience developing against one of the following database servers: PostgreSQL, MySQL or Oracle. * Familiarity with application architecture, data normalization, development methodologies/frameworks, and security issues. * Experience collecting, analyzing and presenting data using SQL/Excel.

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE: * Experience working with any of the following development technologies is preferred: PERL, PHP, Java. * Excellent communication skills and the ability to present difficult concepts in an uncomplicated manner. * Experience building automated processes from scratch. * An interest in open source development methodologies.
