SVP INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY                                POSITION SPECIFICATION #1917

 

The Organization:

 

Our client is a well established and highly stable, not-for-profit trade membership organization dedicated to setting standards for a major industry segment throughout the United States as well as internationally.  Senior management of this organization is firmly committed to streamlining the vital support it receives from IT, both operationally and managerially.   With proper leadership, our client’s IT Group will become recognized for “cutting edge” information management that is swift, accurate, and user-friendly.

 

The Location:

 

Our client’s IT Group headquarters are located in a relatively more desirable community within a major U.S. metroplex, with proximity to a variety of social, recreational, and cultural facilities plus a solid base of commercial and transportation services.

 

The Position:

 

As a key member of the top management team, the SVP Information Technology will assume significant responsibility for strategic and tactical decisions about what hardware and software must be employed to assure rapid and accurate information is available to association members and staff, alike.   He or she should preferably be familiar with codes and standards, and take great pleasure in establishing an organization that will genuinely optimize information flow.   He or she will enjoy building and running a team of bright and talented technology experts, and take personal responsibility for IT contributing to the success of all other departments/projects of the organization.

 

The Specific Responsibilities:

 

The SVP IT will specifically be responsible for the following duties:

 

1.      Managing all technology related initiatives, projects, processes, people, and planning.

 

2.      Overall Information Technology budget management.

 

3.      Overall Management of Information Technology staff.

 

4.      Executive level reporting.

 

5.      Driving the overall Information Technology Road Map.

 

6.      Management of all Technology related vendors/contractors/consulting arrangements.

 

7.      Consistently work with other department to ensure that Information Technology is a

driver of efficiency and revenue, not just a support mechanism.

 

8.      Work with little daily direct supervision.

 

9.      Act as an internal consultant and change agent.

 

10.    Mentor/train employees lacking career experience in business analysis, project

management, and general Information Technology best practices.

 

11.    Exercise proven analytical and creative problem solving abilities.

 

12.    Demonstrate strong communication skills, both written and oral.

 

 

The Background and Experience Required:

 

·        Progressive IT management experience (10 to 15 years).

·        Background in IT operations and/or software development.

·        Experience working in a large IT organization and/or IT consulting (at least 5 years).

·        Experience working with and conducting contract negotiations with third party vendors.

·        Experience working in the publishing and/or non-profit industry a plus, but not required.

·        Solid experience in Project Management and Change Management (PMI certification highly preferred).

·        Business Process Management / Six Sigma experience a plus.

·        Experience working with/at the Executive Level.

The Preferred Education:

 

A college degree in information technology or related discipline is preferred.   An advanced degree such as an MBA is also desired.
