SW Engineering Mgr 1

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
This position is for a Software Quality Assurance Manager. The primary responsibility of this role is to manage a group of test engineers to deliver in the various phases of the software quality assurance life cycle such as test plan generation, test case development, test case execution, tracking quality metrics, etc. Excellent people management skills as well as excellent communication skills are required for this job. In addition, this position will be responsible for coordinating with cross functional teams to deliver functionality as per plan while reporting on quality and driving key critical issues back to development.

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE:
Experience with storage systems, health management and diagnostics of both software and hardware, the Unix operating system, and networking are some of the preferred technical skills for this position. People management, program management, ability to make presentations are some of the preferred skills. It is desirable that a person in this position be familiar with capital and expense management at Sun and the associated tools.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:
It is required that a person in this position be able to effectively manage people while coordinating all the activities needed to assure the quality of the product(s) under test. It is essential to posses knowledge of SQA methodologies, lab environments, hardware and software configurations, revision control, test tools, test automation, and quality metrics. System level experience and understanding of the customer environment are also required.

MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:
Keeping track of department's capital and expenses, representing the department within the division, the company or with customers, setting up demonstrations.
