ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Key USG(User Software Group) Customer Engineering position responsible

for Solutions Deployment Engineering. This function is a software

engineering function focused on product/solution deployment and

usability expertise, knowledge sharing, tools, and assistance. This

is a highly leveraged function which partners closely with the field,

partners, and product/solution development consituents.

Key responsibilities are:


  • Manage a team of 5-10 deployment engineers.

  • Deployment/solution level field enablement for USG focused


Professional Services, Sales Engineering, and Service via

specialized training programs, tools development, rotation programs,

hands on partnering.

  • Key deal/deployment backline Engineering support.


For example..deployment architecture consulting and assistance,

deployment build-out consultation, POC consultation,

limited on-site assistance.

  • Formally collect and leverage noteable field and customer


deployment/usage experience information back into USG business

to improve USG customer solution effectiveness.

  • Partner closely with USG Quality Assurance management on


deployment and usage level test methodologies and programs.

  • Manage and support Sun IT partnership with USG on Sun internal


deployments of USG solutions. Advocate and leverage Sun

Services as appropriate.





PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE:

  • Strong deployment and usability knowledge of USG Portal,


Communications(mail/calendar/IM), Java Desktop Systems,

SunRay, StarOffice products and solutions.

  • Related deployment architectures, system engineering,


system level performance and sizing, deployment guides,

hands on deployment experience.

  • Excellent customer and field interactions skills.

  • Engineering team management.

  • Excellent communication and partnering skills up to exec level.
