Required Job Experience:
- Undergraduate degree (prefer computer science or related field).
- Two or more years experience in PowerBuilder or Delphi programming.
- Two or more years experience with relational database design (SQL Server preferred).
- Must have new development experience
- Eight or more years experience in programming and system development.
- Financial or insurance industry experience a plus

Job Requirements:

- Able to quickly and effectively analyze & troubleshoot complex system problems.
- Ability to design and develop robust user-friendly system applications.
- Able to react responsively to high priority user needs and to interact effectively with the non-technical user community to obtain system requirements and to communicate system functionality.
- Ability to prioritize and balance multiple tasks simultaneously and to organize multiple project requests to achieve on-time results.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills necessary for interaction with programming team, management, user group, and providing written documentation and training material.
- Must be flexible and willing to change direction of projects and workflow as needed.
- Ability to work cooperatively as part of a team or to work as an individual contributor with minimal supervision.

Major Areas of Accountability
I. Design & Programming
- Design, implement, and test administration database reports, user interfaces, database structures, and programs utilizing PowerBuilder, SQL, Delphi, Visual Studio .NET, and other packages necessary for application development technology
- Development and design will be new (blank sheet)development in addition to maintenance.
-Will design and develop in a parameter and generalized technical environment
- Analyze informational needs of system users and implement procedures and programs necessary to fulfill those needs.
- Perform "on-the-fly" mass changes to database information through the use of Interactive SQL when necessary
- Maintain and support administrative database systems; implement modifications as insurance and benefit plan design changes arise or as user-department needs change.
- Implement programs to upload or transfer data from insurance carriers, clients and other third parties.
- Research and prepare proposals detailing specifications, requirements and recommendations for enhancing system capabilities.
II. System Administration
- Analyze user requirements and recommend information systems solutions to keep in line with strategic business plan, systems strategy, and available resources.
- Perform system administrative functions and troubleshooting as needed.
- Demonstrate and explain database attributes to clients, associates, and staff.
III. Training
- Support training efforts of client user departments, such as administration, by coordinating sessions with the departmental trainer regarding new aspects of the system.
- Provide necessary information to Business Systems staff and assist in writing, organizing and compiling documentation, training materials, and procedures for database and system applications.
