SYSTEM SUPPORT ENG 3

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

UNIX generalist responsible for providing system support that includeshardware, software, SAN, storage, software applications, and networking tocustomers and field personnel onsite or via telephone support. Provide a highlevel of customer satisfaction through effectivedelivery of technical supportand service programs. Additionally, support and advocate RAS efforts.Provide post sales onsite and telephone system support to Sun customers. Willrequire 7x24 on-call rotationduty or alternate work shift schedules. Mentornew and junior SSEs.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:

Ability to provide problem isolation and resolution, using system software anddiagnostics and/or crash dump analysis. Must be able to perform installationof Enterprise Services supported products and patches. Must be able tosupport storage systems from installation to troubleshooting and repair,assist in conducting onsite technical account reviews. Provide customercoaching and training. Must be able to demonstrate "skilled" knowledge in aminimum of two disciplines (hardware, high availability, kernel/os, databases,RAS/disaster recovery, storage, networks).Skilled knowledge in support ofbusiness and/or mission critical systems environments.

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE:

Minimum of 2 years Sun/Solaris experience. Experienced with high-end Sunsystems. Experience with SAN design and support including switches andchannel extender hardware. Experience with HDS storage and HiTrack andHiCommand software.
