The required field location is the Northern California Bay Area with overnight travel <20%. The main responsibility is to meet or exceed sales targets for Millipore?s Biopharmaceutical products which include all those offered for use in the Normal Flow Filtration (NFF), Tangential Flow Filtration (TFF) and Chromatography areas in the Biotechnology/Pharmaceutical industry with an emphasis is on expendable filter products. The Applications Specialist should have a working knowledge of fermentation and purification processes and the ability build credibility through problem solving and providing superior customer service. Responsibilities also include conducting or assisting with seminars, demonstrations and filtration studies.

The Application Specialist will coordinate both the sales and service of Millipore?s Biopharmaceutical products through:

? Identification of and working with customers to apply Millipore?s separations technologies.
? Coordination of various types of filtration studies.
? Following-up and closing opportunities.
? Maintenance and updating of account knowledge as it relates to Millipore products.

The Applications Specialist will be assisted in the field by Millipore?s local Systems Specialists, Process Development Scientists and Field Service Engineers as well as headquarters-based application support and service personnel.

Specific Goals and Objectives Include:

(1) Financial Targets: Meet or exceed sales targets, accurately forecast future business, analyze market share and dynamics and develop account strategies.

(2) Develop Customer Satisfaction: Promote and maintain Millipore value through application know-how, maintain effective time and territory management, generate and follow-up on leads, sell to all levels of the customer sites and maintain Millipore credibility.

(3) Account Profiling: Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of the accounts.

(4) Alignment with Divisional Goals: Implement key marketing strategies and programs.

Education: A minimum of a BS degree in Chemical Engineering, Bio-Chemical Engineering or a Life Science.

Work Experience: A minimum of three years in or servicing the Biotechnology/Pharmaceutical Industry. A working knowledge of pharmaceutical manufacturing with hands-on experience with NFF, TFF and/or Chromatography applications. Sales and project management experience is highly desirable.df-tc
