Scientific Programmer/Analyst
Location - Cambridge, MA
Duration - 1 year contract

Responsibilities:
Interacts with end users to gather and refine system requirements, documents all work accordingly, and works with domain architect to define a best architecture/solution.
Designs, codes, and tests moderately complex programs based on requirement specifications and agreed architecture, using agreed standards and tools.
Defines the integration build and produces a build definition for generation of the software. Produces software builds for loading onto target hardware from software source code.

Education
MS or Ph.D in chemistry, biology or related discipline.
BS or MS in computer science or equivalent programming experience.

Strong communication abilities
A solid understanding of drug discovery process
Excellent computer programming skills, particularly in Java and Database technologies
A dedication to software development best practices and methodologies (unit testing, TDD, Agile, code reviews, etc)

Experience
3 years experience developing scientific software solutions in the pharmaceutical R&D or biotech sector
Demonstrated ability designing and developing relational databases.
In particular, good understanding of Oracle database technologies (PL/SQL, Triggers, etc)
Demonstrated ability developing Java Swing applications.
Experienced in GUI design and invoking remote resources such as databases and Web services.
Demonstrated ability developing J2EE applications and Web services.
Comfortable with Windows, Unix and Linux platforms, and experienced in Unix/Linux Shell Scripting
