Description
Our client located in Houston, TX has an immediate contract opportunity (9-12 months) for a Scrum Master.

The Scrum Master is responsible for owning the Scrum process including its proper and complete implementation. The Scrum Master must maintain developer and Product Owner satisfaction during the product development cycle.

Duties: Support the product development process • Organize and facilitate project planning, daily stand-up meetings, reviews, retrospectives, sprint and release planning, demos and other Scrum-related meetings • Track and communicate team velocity and sprint/release progress • Maintain process documentation • Ensure the development teams are practicing the core agile principles of collaboration, prioritization, team accountability, and visibility • Update agile tracking systems to provide transparency on Product & Sprint Backlogs. • Recommend improvements and assist in changes to best practices Support the Product Owner • Assist as needed with backlog maintenance • Assist with internal and external communication, improving transparency, and radiating information • Assist with prioritization and resolution of defects/bugs Support the Product Team • Assist team with making appropriate commitments through story selection, task definition • Participate proactively in developing and maintaining team standards, tools, and best practices • Identify and remove impediments, prevent distractions that interfere with the ability of the team to deliver the sprint goal • Facilitate discussion and conflict resolution • Empower the team to self-organize • Improve the productivity of the team in any way possible • Ensure the team strives to make each increment of functionality potentially shippable

Education: • Bachelor's degree or combination of relevant education and experience

Skills and Experience: • Excellent team player and team builder • Ability to work with minimal supervision in a very dynamic and timeline sensitive work environment • 3 years project management • Scrum Master experience and certification desired • Experience in a Microsoft environment (SQL Server, IIS, .NET framework, VSS, SQL OLAP) desirable • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work with diverse personality types • Ability to understand technical issues at a high level • Thorough understanding of agile software development methodologies, values, and procedures • Thorough understanding of the software development lifecycle • Proven ability to work independently with limited supervision and with other department personnel in a very dynamic and timeline sensitive work environment • Must have exceptional communication, organization, and time management skills • Ability to coach the team to reach their highest potential • Must be "self-motivated" as well as creative and efficient in proposing solutions to complex, time-critical problems • Must be collaborative in driving decisions • Ability to deal with multiple projects and deadlines • Strong analytical and problem solving skills with a high attention to detail Optional requirements: • Experience in the mortgage industry Personal Characteristics: • Passion to proactively seek ways to improve processes • Self-confidence to be assertive when taking a position and can constructively resolve problems • Demonstrated aptitude for acquiring knowledge and skills and new technologies readily • Organized and self-directing with the ability to identify priorities and mobilize projects in an orderly fashion to achieve desired results • Respectful, professional interpersonal working style • Approachable and willing to offer helpful solutions • Should handle constructive feedback well Certificates/Licenses: • Certified Scrum Master (CSM) desireddf-tc
