Description
Maintain a Veritas NetBackup system to backup or archive all Intrusion Detection Files, system logs, critical configuration files and source code.

Operate a system to automatically retrieve and store centrally the critical configuration files and any changes to those files for over 200 machines.

Administer a web application to generate and publish city/state codes for the generation of hostnames.

Administer a monitoring and fault notification system for over 200 computers (Nagios).

Responsibilities would also include:

Installation of the Perimeter Security Group's computers in the Raleigh facility

Monitoring and fault notification of a system for over 800 computers or other network devices (Nagios).

Supervising the replacement of all our group's equipment installed in the Raleigh computer room.
Installation and maintenance of a redirector plug-in for the Squid proxy servers to block access to inappropriate sites by URL or IP address.

Maintain a log retrieval and archiving system to retrieve, archive and standardize system and application logs from the approximately 850 remote machines as well as the general system administration of approximately 200 of the aforesaid 850 machines.

Maintain a system to automatically retrieve and store centrally the critical configuration files and any changes to those files for over 200 machines in the SMTP gateway.

Provide Remote Access and Tier II support to 31,000+ employees and 700+ business partners via point-to-point-protocol (PPP) and virtual private networks (VPN).

Interface with security personnel to ensure integrity of the network.

Experience/Skills
Heavy Linux/Unix administration experience. Proficient Perl and Borne/Korn/Bash shell programming abilities.

A minimum of two years applicable WAN experience including PPP, VPN, ATM, and Frame Relay.

Should be knowledgeable in Cisco router configurations and basic system maintenance activities.

Must have the ability to own a technical task and complete the end product while working in a team environment.

Must have sufficient written and oral skills to assist with solving problems and provide tier 2 support to remote Field Information Technology and Helpdesk personnel.

Experience programming in at least one other language: C/C++, python, tcl/Expect, Java.

Knowledge of IP, TCP, UDP: three way handshake, resets vs. timeouts, enough to troubleshoot an asynchronous route or no path to host.



Other desired skills:
