Position Summary
The Security Engineer is responsible for the administration of several security processes, including remediation of vulnerability scans, evaluation of firewall change requests, and monitoring of system logs for potential security events. This position will help to manage system security policy configuration. The Security Engineer will also participate in the Security Incident Response Team as needed. Finally, the Security Engineer will provide security consulting services to other departments as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related major is desired.
  • Requires 5+ years of full-time experience in system administration, network engineering, or database administration.
  • Solid knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Linux platforms.
  • Solid knowledge of infrastructure design principles, standards, and frameworks - COBIT, ITIL, etc. is desired.
  • Knowledge of network protocols, TCP/IP, Cisco WAN protocols, VPN technologies, LDAP technologies.
  • 3+ years of total experience in information security, including specific experience with firewall administration or auditing, vulnerability scanners, and security event monitoring, is desired. SSCP certification or at least one GIAC certification (GSEC, GCWN, GCFW, GCIH, etc.) is desired.
  • Experience working in a high-bandwidth Internet environment is strongly desired.

    Specific Skills Required

  • At least one of the following: 1)Specific O/S Platforms: Both Windows (2000, 2003, XP) and RedHat are required. Solaris 8 and 9 are a plus 2)Infrastructure Technology: Cisco, Checkpoint, F5, RSA/ACE.
  • Protocols: SSH, SSL, IPSec, LDAP, SNMP, SMTP, NetBios, HTTP.
  • Must be able to independently evaluate change requests to production firewalls, and provide an approval recommendation based on information security best practices.
  • Familiarity with security tools such as nmap, Nessus, Tenable Lightning and Thunder consoles, Sourcfire Intrusion Sensor and Realtime Network Awareness (RNA), CIS Scoring tools, Retina, etc. is desired.
  • Must be familiar with PGP.
  • The candidate must be able to successfully complete a criminal background investigation and a credit history check.
