Description
Manager Security
Has management responsibility for developing, maintaining, and publishing security standards, procedures, and guidelines across system platforms. Designs and implements programs for user awareness, compliance monitoring, and security compliance. Recommends and implements upgrades, repairs, modifications, and replacements of information security devices or software. Manages the department that ensures appropriate security controls are in existence and in force throughout the enterprise. Works with management to determine acceptable levels of risk for enterprise computing platforms. Has a proven track record of supervising diverse technical staff and resources. Maintain a high level of user trust and confidence in the groups knowledge of and concern for users business needs.

Responsibilities
Design and implement security structures to support the data security needs of systems being developed; participate in providing 24x7 support for security in production systems as necessary
Develop strategic plans and identify key success factors; set priorities and allocate the resources to achieve unit, division, and corporate goals
Proactively protect the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of information in the custody of or processed by the company:
o respond in a timely manner to a loss or misuse of information assets
o participate in investigations of suspected information security misuse or in compliance reviews as requested by auditors
o communicate unresolved security exposures, misuse, or noncompliance situations to management
Analyze application security needs based on the sensitivity or proprietary nature of the data, and ensure all systems are used for management-approved purposes only
Work with executive management to determine acceptable levels of risk for the enterprise
Work with line-of-business management to ensure resource owner responsibilities are accepted and appropriately staffed
Consult with IT management to ensure selection and use of realistic enforcement mechanisms
Define, prioritize, schedule, and monitor multiple technical projects, developing and maintaining comprehensive project plans/schedules (and using same to provide senior management with accurate and complete status information)
Assist peer managers in understanding and responding to security audit failures reported by internal and external auditing departments
Supervise security management staff and security administration staff
Review and approve security policies and resource classification scheme; present security status and project status to executive management and board of directors
Provide technical expertise and guide the administration of security tools that control and monitor information security, including:
o updating access control tables
o setting up user logon IDs and assigning/resetting passwords
o designing computer system access reports to identify possible security violations
Develop, maintain, and publish all corporate-level information security standards, procedures, and guidelines, including compliance monitoring procedures; assist in resolving security policy issues and in implementing security procedures
Research, evaluate, design, test, recommend, and plan implementation of new or improved information security software or devices:
o analyze new or enhanced software applications or tool implementations for implications to existing security software and devices
Act as senior-level mentor to telecommunications technical and support staff

Skills and Knowledge
Ability to relate business requirements and risks to technology implementation for security-related issues
Knowledge of risk assessment procedures, policy formation, role-based authorization methodologies, authentication technologies, and security attack pathologies
Technical proficiency in security-related hardware and software; ability to function as a consultant to other IT groups on security matters
Ability to effectively adapt to rapidly changing technology and apply it to business needs
A firm understanding of the business and business related processes
Strong knowledge and understanding of business needs, with the ability to establish and maintain a high level of customer trust and confidence in the security teams concern for customers
Proven ability to work under stress in emergencies; flexibility to handle pressure coming fromdf-tc
