Description
A premiere NWN client has a need for a Senior Database Administrator in the High Point, NC area. The main focus of this position is on Change Management in support of the Sarbanes-Oxley directive within the clien't environment. Scope of this project includes managing the physical resources for client's database servers, with emphasis on servers within the development environment to ensure a smooth migration of changes from development to production database systems.


Candidiates MUST have strong SQL Server 2000 and/or 2005 experience and working knowledge of either Oracle, Informix, or DB2.


Partial list of duties:

Database change management
Installation, configuration and upgrading database server software
Maintains database security
Backup and recovery procedures
Process scheduling
Work as part of a team that provides 7x24 support when required
Maintains an understanding of the overall physical and logical design of all corporate databases
General technical troubleshooting and consultation to development teams as needed
Collaborates with Application team to develop and optimize ETL strategies and processes

Requirements:

Bachelor Degree in Computer/Information Science (or relevant Engineering discipline) or applicable professional certifications
Minimum of 8 years DBA experience in medium or large organization with at least one of the major database vendors (SQL Server, Informix, Oracle, or DB2)
At least 3 years experience with SQL Server
Hand on and in-depth experience of Windows and Unix (HP/UX, Sun Solaris, and Linux) environments as it support the database and applications incluiding UNIX shell scripting and Windows VB Scripting
Experience with Sarbanes-Oxley and best practices including code migration, database change management and data management through the various stages of development life cycle.
Experience with ETL
