Description
NWN, a Microsoft and Cisco Gold Partner, is seeking a Unix Systems Administrator for our client in the Richmond, VA, area.

Preferred skills are: Red Hat Linux, Solaris, AIX Server systems. Understanding of networking and VPN Technology. Knowledge of high performance compute clusters and load sharing facilities.df-tc

Experience/Skills
Core Competencies:
The position is to provide architecture and support for existing Unix Servers, SAN/NAS, storage virtualization & Service Guard Clusters. The position will require time management skills to balance operational tasks and project tasks.

Installation and configuration of UNIX systems, hardware & software.
Troubleshoot hardware and software problems.
Expert knowledge of HP Service Guard.
Backup software knowledge (Legato & Omniback).
Red Hat Linux, HP-UX & Solaris knowledge.
Knowledge in NAS and SAN technology (Hitachi, EMC, NetApp).
Expert in Storage Virtualization using Hitachi 9990.
After hour / on call support in rotation with other admins (1 week out of 4, available by pager).
Printing under UNIX.
Remote support.
Korn & Perl Scripting.

Duties for UNIX Administrator
a. Maintenance of existing HPUX, Red Hat Linux, Solaris and AIX Server systems
b. Manage user requests through our Help Desk System (Remedy, Qinetix)
c. Work with end users to meet new requests for storage provisioning using existing standards defined by client
d. Reporting of tasks and accomplishments to appropriate manager or lead
e. Off hour support as required
f. Service calls with vendors.
g. 1st and 2nd level support.
h. System maintenance and update patches.
i. Understanding of networking and VPN technology.
j. Knowledge of high performance compute clusters and load sharing facilities (LSF).
