Senior AIX Administrator

Job Responsibilities:

Correct technical problems within defined SLAs. Analyze root cause and permanently correct. Document incidents.

Perform server checks prior to server deployment to the network.

Configure and maintain server systems using industry best practices.

Secure servers.

Monitor server performance.

Replace hardware as needed.

Minimize risk to the business by monitoring potential hardware failures and employing appropriate mitigation

Ensure Servers are backed up according to business needs.

Devise and implement solutions that enhance monitoring capabilities or automate manual processes.

Have knowledge and experience in Scripting in an AIX environment.

Follow defined change management process.

Transfer technical knowledge to others.

Work a flexible schedule. May be required to work Sunday through Thursday. Will be required to work overtime when needed.

If required, can get to the office within 1 hour of being called.

Job Requirements:

Candidates must have deep and current knowledge of AIX systems with at least five years of professional experience with AIX server administration. Linux and Solaris knowledge would be desired. The holder of this position will work with a team of engineers who work with all three operating systems.

Must work well in a complex, matrixed environment.

Desired Skills:
1. Ability to identify and patch application software - Oracle, WebSphere, SNA, ConnectDirect, Weblogic, DB2
2. Experience with AIX Dynamic LPAR and VIO server technologies
3. Knowledge of HACMP configuration, maintenance and problem resolution procedures
4. Exposure to AIX bare metal build procedure using NIM
5. Experience with replacement of user serviceable hardware components
6. Familiarity with TSM and TDPO backup/restore/configuration from a client perspective
