Job Opening:Senior AIX Engineer

Job Summary:
This position requires a seasoned professional with at least 10 years of experience in the IT industry. Candidates must have a very strong background in Unix technologies and possess detailed working knowledge of IBM AIX as deployed in a mission-critical, multi-site enterprise environment. This position will assist with planning, installing, and supporting AIX operating system software, administration and related program product components for production and disaster recovery environments. This also includes the development of standards, procedures and configuration management.

Job Responsibilities:
-Diagnose AIX platform issues in complex, business-critical environments

-Maintain continuous availability of computer systems by installing preventative and corrective maintenance to operating systems and other middleware program products of AIX 5x to current (including knowledge of virtual LPAR configuration)

-On-call and system support providing problem determination and resolution for installed systems software base and data center p-series hardware.

-Perform AIX system tuning and capacity planning to meet defined availability & performance SLAB?s from computer systems software base and data center hardware.

-Maintain knowledge of vendor?s current hardware and software products.

-Prepare evaluations on benchmarks of products to provide recommendations to management, ability to provide remote system support and establish remote working relationships.

Requirements:
-8+ years hands on experience with IBM AIX running on Power4 and Power5 hardware
-3+ years experience with AIX 5x and higher.
-3+ years experience with server clustering technologies (HACMP)
-3+ years experience with server partitioning (LPAR)Including the latest IBM Power 5 resource pooling technologies, micro partitioning, and virtualization
-5+ years experience with Unix server tuning, optimization, and capacity planning
-5+ years experience with general Unix systems administration
-Cisco SAN fabric experience.
-Must have experience supporting 20+ servers with 20 terabytes of IBM DS8000 DASD.
-Fluent with AIX operating system internals.
-Capable of implementing AIX platforms from start to finish, including both hardware and operating systems.
-Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred.
- Strong Korn Shell scripting skills
-LAN/WAN technologies and network protocols
-Major web server software (e.g. Apache)
-Windows client/server integration with Unix technologies
-Excellent conceptual and analytical skills
-Excellent verbal and written communication skills
-Able to produce detailed technical documentation and server architecture diagrams
-Professional certifications (e.g. AIX, HACMP, LPAR) are a plus
