Description
This position will be responsible for senior level AIX UNIX system administration of all UNIX Platform systems The Unix platform provides computing processing power for many business production systems within CLIENT. These production systems include: SAP/R3, APO, Data Warehouse, Business Intelligence Warehouse, R & D, H.R, Payroll along with many other key production system required for the success of the business.
Provides day-to-day UNIX support for all CLIENT production, development, and testing system environments. Performs system set-up including hardware set-up, operating system installation, networking, infrastructure applications, patch management and configuration of all aspects of the UNIX environment. Follow CLIENT SW Management process for all activities. Consult with clients on UNIX technology relative to business and application requirements. Contribute to the establishment of the platform technical direction. Interface with Project Office and key I.T. clients for project coordination. Provide technical and task direction to CLIENT contractors and junior administrators. Ensure all assigned projects are completed within committed time and budget constraints Evaluate vendor proposals for purchases of hardware and/or software. Software product evaluation. Adhere to CLIENT problem and change management processes. Actively involved with the day to day and long term process improvement of all UNIX related processes via the CLIENT/TDS process improvement initiative (Operations Excellence). Provides documentation of systems, procedures, process, policy, and solutions.df-tc

Experience/Skills
5+ years supporting a large corporate AIX UNIX computing environment. Experience supporting IBM Regatta AIX UNIX hardware & software: IBM Regatta P670s, P690s, P650s, and HMCs. IBM AIX 4.3, 5.1, 5.2. Programming experience with shell scripting. Expert level understanding of AIX UNIX including filesystem & volume groups concept, paging, swapping, device management, inter- process communication, performance analysis and tuning. Complete understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, FDDI, Gigabit Ethernet, etc.). Ability to learn new technologies quickly and apply them to business solutions. Good time management and prioritization skills. Excellent written, verbal, and inter-personal communication skills Managing multiple projects
a plus: IBM SP2 and PSSP. EMC Disk (Symmetrix and Clariion) and SAN. Experience supporting other computing environments. Experience with Tivoli system management and backup products. Process improvement (Operations excellence and/or Six Process improvement (Operations excellence and/or Six Sigma).
