Assignment Capsule
As a senior actuarial analyst you will: use your analytical skills to recommend changes and improvements to Humana's current practices in the areas of product development, pricing, reserving and financial reporting. You will also assist members of the management team in the evaluation of business strategies from an actuarial and financial perspective.

  • Analyze experience reports and manual rate analyses, developing recommendations for improvements, and preparing state filings for rate changes and product implementation that will ensure the profitability and financial integrity of Humana's business
  • Develop significant expertise in state regulatory and compliance matters as related to rates and other mandated and informational filings, acting as a departmental liaison to state regulatory bodies regarding compliance issues
  • Evaluate reserving estimates and assess their adequacy
    Act as liaison to the IT department to ensure that effective rating systems are in place
  • Design, develop and manage special actuarial studies and projects on topics such as new business adequacy, renewal adequacy, persistency, and the development of pure premium estimates from loss distribution modeling and analysis

Role Essentials
  • Bachelor's Degree in Applied Mathematics, Statistics or a related field
  • Advanced knowledge and experience with data analysis and reporting
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Access, and SAS, ability to program in SAS


Role Desirables
  • Working knowledge of Visual Basic and Oracle

    Reporting Relationships
    • You will report to an Actuary. This area is under the leadership of the SVP & Chief Financial Officer.
