SUMMARY OF POSITION

The Consultant Business Systems is a technical role in our call center, workflow and disputes processing arenas. This team member provides technical solution design and development to credit card functional business units by consulting and sharing technical expertise, participating actively in design recommendations, and implementing major projects for the credit card division. Systems and solutions are complex, requiring high-volume, high-speed and high-availability for constant transaction processing. Project release and ongoing maintenance is fast paced. The ideal candidate has knowledge and experience in the credit card and disputes business arena, is a strong team player, and has knowledge and experience in methodical, complex applications design and development in similar technical environments. This person collaborates with customers, technical peers and developers, and vendors to ensure quality solutions are implemented and maintained for our customer. This person also provides support to production systems and other design teams in delivery of critical applications and projects.



The responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:



  • Provide application system development and technical support, implement complex technical solutions, and recognize/resolve issues and opportunities of a highly complex, critical nature. May initiate analysis for complex problems and issues, determine technical alternatives, analyze vendor solutions and negotiate contracts, and collaborative develop appropriate standards for technology applications. Provide active participation in planning, designing, programming, documentation and implementation of the systems. Designs, codes, test, debugs and documents programs. Analyze vendor solutions and coordinates technology, productivity and performance initiatives.

  • Provide technical analysis and solutions to business issues, provides consultation, researches and implements technical alternatives, and maintains awareness of business technology strategies and the technical infrastructure to meet business requirements. Perform reviews of new and existing systems to ensure operational integrity and accomplishment of stated objectives. Designs, codes, test, debugs and documents programs. Analyze vendor solutions and coordinates technology, productivity and performance initiatives.

  • Provide consultation and assistance to corporate and business organizations in the preparation of project plans as assigned. Provide periodic on call support on a 24X7 rotation basis.

  • Assist in the development of the strategic technical architecture plans in partnership with the business or staff department. Provide technical solutions to business problems, technical leadership and direction to management.

  • Remain current on technical and professional advances and business strategies in the area of disputes processing. Serve as expert in area of responsibility, identifies process improvements and problem prevention, and advise department and management of relevant information as appropriate.

  • Seek technical and professional information and industry knowledge in the area disputes systems processing and call center support to enhance business and team knowledge of opportunities to improve our processes, approaches and systems.

  • Ensure compliance monitoring is in place, including processes for management of operational risk, in accordance with HSBC and regulatory standards.

  • Complete other related duties as assigned, support the Company’s Diversity programs.

Experience/Skills
This position requires an individual with:

  • Candidate must have hands-on experience working with the following technologies: Internet and Mid-range systems (including IBM Websphere, Java/J2EE/JMS/JSP/EJB, UnixStruts, XML, HTML, BEA WebLogic (in a clustered environment), IIS, and Visual SourceSafe, etc).
  • Knowledge and experience in Chordiant's software application platform is a required.
  • Knowledge and experience working in call center and/or credit card disputes technology solutions a strong plus.
