Senior Application Developer - Merchandising Syste

Description
The primary function of a Senior Application Developer is to fulfill a leadership role in planning, designing, coding, testing, debugging, configuring and documenting packaged application systems and/or custom software development solutions. The Senior Application Developer will work with other application developers and guide the technical solutions through design and coding standards.

Duties

• Technical expert for designated technical areas such as programming languages, operating systems, databases and/or packaged systems
• Primary Systems/Applications
  - Item Lookup, Inventory Transfers, Loss Prevention, POS
• Primary Languages and OS
  - C, C#, Visual Basic, Oracle PL/SQL, Microsoft T-SQL
• Primary Databases
  - SQL Server, Oracle
• ETL with Microsoft DTS and/or Microsoft SSIS
• ASP, ASP.NET, Visual Studio
• Visual Source Safe or other code management software
• Windows, BlackBerry, Windows Mobile, Unix

Assists Implementation Efforts:

• Work with cross-functional team members to recommend technical solutions to business issues and/or system issues
• Make technical recommendations for more efficient troubleshooting and issue resolution
• Applies generally accepted programming standards techniques to assure efficient program logic and data manipulation
• Acts as code reviewer for other application developers output to enforce accepted programming standards and techniques
• Provides assistance and routine consultation to internal business users of applications
• Works with cross functional team members to develop system and software designs
• Addresses multiple technical issues for resolution
• Works with Project Manager and Quality Assurance representative to estimate new system issue resolution or package implementation efforts

Requirements

• Strong SQL skills
• Experience delivering Business Intelligence Reporting in a Data Warehousing environment
• Extensive cross functional Retail knowledge
• Good problem solving and analytical skills
• Strong leadership skills
• Exceptional interpersonal/team building skills including the ability to communicate with all levels of the organization and participate on multi-functional teams
• Ability to work at a detailed level while maintaining an overall project perspective

Education:

• Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, information Systems or Information Technology or related field required, or equivalent experience

Experience:

• 5+ years experience developing commercial grade applications with large scale deployments
• Strong ability to build consensus; ability to influence others
• Experience working both independently and in a team oriented collaborative environment
• Strong experience in current software engineering and solution delivery methodologies
