AUTOMATION ENGINEER
Disney Interactive Media Group (DIMG) is the division of The Walt Disney Company responsible for the creation and delivery of Disney branded interactive entertainment and informational content across multiple platforms including online, mobile and video game consoles around the globe.

DIMG oversees several lines of business. Disney Interactive Studios, which has five internal game development studios around the world, self publishes and distributes a broad portfolio of multi-platform video games, mobile games and interactive entertainment worldwide. Disney Online produces Disney.com, the No. 1 kids entertainment and family community Web site, for multiple platforms including PCs and mobile phones, as well as the Disney Family Network of Web sites for moms. Additionally, Disney Online develops and publishes an industry leading suite of online virtual worlds for kids and families. Disney Interactive Studios and Disney Online work together to leverage the platform-specific expertise of the collective group to create a line of interconnected, multiplatform interactive entertainment experiences. Disney Mobile Japan includes the Disney Mobile phone service as well as the region’s highly successful mobile content business. POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for working with the Enterprise Automation Team at the Walt Disney Interactive Media Group. The role involves working with Systems Engineers, internal engineering staff, and external development teams to provide solutions for all aspects of technical operations production environments and the systems responsible for interacting between production and development environments. This will include integrating with 3rd party enterprise automation tools and products as well as creating self-service web sites.

You will have an exciting opportunity to be a key contributor in creating new services and tools to increase the effectiveness of our technical operations organization. You should be an experienced, generalist IT application developer. You must have the ability and interest to work with a variety of technologies to solve varied types of problems, and must have a background that demonstrates this ability.

Responsibilities also include:

  • Design, develop and maintain web-based applications to enhance workflow and technical operations automation.
  • Deliver scalable and reliable business applications using web technologies.
  • Design, develop and maintain extensions and integration code interoperating with other automation tool sets.
  • Collaborate with other engineers on internal infrastructure, workflows, and process enhancements.
  • Create documentation and provide assistance to other engineers working with our systems.
  • Share 24/7 on-call responsibilities with other team members in supporting our applications and systems
  • Evaluate and implement technologies to meet team goals and deliverables

    QUALIFICATIONS FOR POSITION
  • B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • Experience working with Linux (RHEL4/5) and Windows (Windows Server 2003) operating systems.
  • Scripting and/or programming skills (shell, python, ruby, vbs).
  • Strong background and interest in integrated operations workflow, configuration management, and monitoring systems
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience working with high-capacity internet-based infrastructures
