GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY

Job Description

This position is responsible for d
efining and documenting data protection requirements from initial creation and storage to the time when it becomes obsolete and is archived and/or destroyed. In conjunction with the data protection requirements will be the creation and execution of data protection services.





MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS


Responsible for developing, maintaining and representing information lifecycle management services with a primary focus on backup
and recovery or data protection services

Create, maintain, and enforce all policies and procedures associated with backup/recovery services and ensure compliance with all regulatory guidelines/legislation such as Sarbanes-Oxley. Including the necessary detailed work instructions and diagrams for the backup environment.

Work with clients/project teams to identify and document data requirements and associated appropriate ILM or backup and recovery services

Manage all software, hardware and third party services required to ensure data protection.

Cataloguing of all media allowing rapid identification and retrieval of all items to necessary for complete recovery

Create and maintain a backup schedule that minimizes the impact on the production environment yet ensure the highest level of protection

Develop and implement a monitoring and alerting process that provides the greatest amount of time to react to any backup failures.

Proper capacity planning and performance tuning which provides input to budgetary forecasting

On going research, evaluation and education on the latest software/hardware products, tools, and techniques

Administering SAN disk subsystems in a secondary role.

Supporting production systems 24x7x365 including on-call support

Perform system and network administration as needed

Other duties as assigned

JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Required Skills

5-8 years of hands on Information Technology experience with proficiency in deploying and maintaining;

Backup environments built around the Netbackup Enterprise Solution using automated and virtual tape library solutions.


=C2=B7


Veritas Netbackup certification =E2=80=93 preferred


=C2=B7


Knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley regulations and disaster recovery principles


=C2=B7


Understanding of Storage Area Networking (SAN) principles

=C2=B7


Solaris / HPUX and/or Windows 200x server administration experience

=C2=B7


Four-year degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or equivalent required
