General Summary:

This position is responsible to use advanced reporting tools and technologies for the development of custom reports in support of Boston Scientific’s clinical trials. Reports range from straightforward data listings to complex data aggregations, cross tabs, charts and graphs. Relevant technologies include SQL (SQL Server and/or Oracle), Crystal Reports, Cognos, Business Objects and others.


Duties and Responsibilities:

As a key member of a mission-critical reporting team, this person will perform the following duties:

  • Work directly with users to define report requirements.
  • Use a combination of GUI tools and hard-coded SQL to implement reports according to requirements.
  • Support documentation, testing and validation efforts according to approved procedures.
  • Assist in the configuration and administration of the reporting technologies described above.


    Required Qualifications:

  • Strong ability to develop complex, yet efficient, elegant SQL queries and stored procedures in SQL Server and/or Oracle.
  • 3-5 years’ experience developing reports and/or database-driven software.
  • Understanding of data modeling concepts.
  • Ability to work effectively with non-technical business users.


    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in information systems, biostatistics, public health or related background.
  • Experience with Crystal Reports, BusinessObjects XI and Cognos – certifications highly desirable.
  • Experience in data management and/or operational practices relevant to clinical research.
