Senior Cognos Developer

Salary Range $88,000 to $100,000

Great permanent opportunity for a Senior Cognos Developer in the Alpharetta area!

Our client is searching for a Business Intelligence developer that has experience developing and administrating Cognos solutions. The Cognos Developer will be responsible for designing, developing, and deploying Business Intelligence solutions that will be used by both external and internal clients for this organization.

This Cognos Developer will create BI solutions such as models, catalogs, reports, Web reports and multi-dimensional cubes. This developer will also transcribe this data into portal and dashboard formats. These metrics will be an important tool for management.

Cognos Administration including Cognos configuration tool is a plus!

Responsibilities
* Serve as the BI OLAP cube designer.
* Serve as the portal/dashboard designer and metrics designer.
* Serve as the BI Analytic technical resource.
* Serve as the Internal reporting technical resource.
* Manage new operational/finance report requests.
* Coordinate the implementation of software upgrades and installations that provide better performance and/or functionality to the company.
* Must have knowledge on administration.
* Develop in-depth knowledge of the following data models: operational data store, Datawarehouse and data marts.
* Develop and document BI Tool set standards, guidelines and best practices and deliver these though training or other knowledge transfer.
* Assist with the creation of the.self-service* reporting area.
* Develop standard reporting Templates.
* Assist with the creation of an internal ad-hoc reporting area and promote the concept of.self-service* reporting.
* Perform gap analysis for new and conversion reports.
* Work closely with Architects and Data modelers to address data gaps.

Qualifications
* Cognos Development (models, catalogs, reports, Web reports and multi-dimensional cubes)
* OLAP reporting experience
* Oracle database experience (Must have 8i, 9i & 10G preferred)
* Demonstrated expertise and experience in composing and tuning complex SQL statements
* Unix Shell Scripting experience
* Understanding of dimensional and normalized modeling concepts
* Experience managing and maintaining meta-data: Cataloging definitions, calculations and origins of data
