Concentric Corporation is searching for a Senior Database Administrator.

GENERAL SUMMARY: The incumbent is responsible for the design, integrity, administration and security of all data repositories throughout the company. Designs the logical and physical data models and drives the governing policies to ensure robust, scalable and efficient data platforms. Responsible for the management and implementation of data related elements including stored procedures and/or data access layers. As a backup resource, provides hands-on database administration functions to include: data manipulation, transformation, backup/restore, hygiene, tuning and miscellaneous data production tasks.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1.Understands and adheres to all company policies, procedures, and practices.

2.Interacts with sales and product management staff on data capture and order fulfillment issues.

3.Facilitates and implements database architecture and related changes in support of external customer requirements.

4.Creates database high availability solution inclusive of hardware specifications, data replication and log shipping strategy. Monitors and maintains Microsoft SQLServer replication, jobs and DTS packages.

5.Designs optimized data rollups and data views in order to accomplish specific business goals.

6.Acts as principal data advocate and works to enhance the existing data environment through finding methods to keep data current and saleable to clients.

7.Monitors and provides direction for database infrastructure capacity planning inclusive of CPU, RAM and disk.

8.Writes ad-hoc SQL queries to support report requests as necessary.

9.Determines data interpretation guidelines and controls to ensure consistency across data structures.

10.Manages the design of logical and physical data models along with data security policies based on detailed analysis of business processes and associated risks.

11.Evaluates application software generated queries of database environment and provides consultative solutions to enhance performance based upon external customer requirements.

12.Acts as backup for Database Administrator to provide routine database administration support including backups, recovery, and security.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Math, Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience of at least 5 years.
In depth knowledge of T-SQL, replication and DTS is required.
Strong communication skills and the ability to share ideas and work well in small teams.
The candidate should be a technical expert with data architecture design, capacity planning, performance tuning, backup and recovery, and 24/7 operational support, preferably in a large-scale, distributed, e-commerce environment with high availability.
Five years of database administration experience with emphasis in maintaining highly available infrastructures with at least two years experience with Microsoft SQLServer.
Detailed expertise with Microsoft SQL Server 2000, software design methodologies and documenting requirements is required.
Additional background in data management, federated databases, web/e-commerce systems, list management, data security and/or IT auditing are a significant plus.
