Scope:
Performs complex database administration assignments essential to the production and development of database management systems (DBMS) applications. Assignments, which are in direct support of software development and maintenance teams, include database analysis, security support, design, software use, and performance monitoring and tuning. Reviews and ensures integrity via standardized support tools. Ensures that assignments are performed in accordance with database administration guidelines, standards and procedures for applications development, implementation, testing, and migration. Responds to complex customer-reported systems problems. Evaluates and recommends use of software, guidelines, and procedures. Evaluates and develops project plans. Provides DBMS expertise to other groups as requested. Works on extremely complex problems. Acts independently to determine methods and procedures to be used on new assignments and may supervise or provide guidance to other personnel. Regularly interacts with senior or executive management on matters concerning several functional areas, divisions, and/or customers. Applicants must possess a current TOP SECRET/SCI clearance based on a Single Scope Background Investigation in order to be considered for employment.

Required Education/Skills:
Bachelor's degree in related field and 9 years related experience.
Must have worked as a DBA on at least one of the following relational databases: MYSQL, Sybase, Oracle or SQL Server in a UNIX environment. Also required are the skills to develop Triggers, Stored Procedures and server Applets for applications.

Desired Skills:
Familiarity with DIICOE requirements and implementation preferred for both categories. Experience in Sun Solaris 10/SAM QFS. Experience in Windows XP and Vista. Experience in Dimensional Databases (eg, COGNOS, Business Object). Working experience in providing database support for GIS tools (eg, ArcGIS or similar tools). Familiarity with DIICOE requirements and implementation. Experience in designing and implementing solutions for very large multi-media data storage and transfer for optimal performance is highly desirable.
