Cerami Search Group is a successful Texas based search firm specializing in the temporary, temp-to-hire and permanent placement of Legal, Accounting, Information Technology, Medical and Administrative professionals. Our clients range from small companies to large corporations throughout Dallas/Fort Worth and North America.

An international travel company in the DFW area is investing in an Enterprise Data initiative requiring a core team to drive the development of the Enterprise Data Warehouse. The successful candidate for the Senior Database Administrator will have a proven track record of maintaining production environments for large scale operations on Teradata. General responsibilities include creating tables, views and indexes ensuring the databases are available within SLAs agreed to by business stakeholders. The DBA will have co-responsibility with Data Architecture to ensure that the databases and access methods will run efficiently. The Senior Database Administrator will provide first tier support for the operational data loading and data access issues and will have joint production support responsibility with DW developers.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Under general direction, plans complex computerized databases, including base definition, structure, documentation, long-range requirements, operational guidelines and protection. Ensures accuracy and completeness of data in master files and various support tools, such as base dictionaries. Establishes and maintains security and integrity controls. Formulates and monitors policies, procedures and standards relating to database management. Proposes and implements enhancements that will improve the performance and reliability of the system. Responsible for maintaining and updating complex databases. Uses skills as a seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of industry practices and company policies and procedures; resolves a wide range of issues in imaginative as well as practical ways. Writes and produces standardized and complex customized or ad hoc reports. Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Interacts with senior internal and external personnel. Uses skills as a seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of industry practices and company policies and procedures; resolves a wide range of issues in imaginative as well as practical ways. This job is the fully qualified, career-oriented, journey-level position.

KEY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
=C3=A2?=C2=A2 Responsible for maintaining and updating physical database objects
=C3=A2?=C2=A2 Responsible for tuning database objects and SQL
=C3=A2?=C2=A2 Plans and implements database security
=C3=A2?=C2=A2 Implements and maintains backup and recovery of the database
=C3=A2?=C2=A2 Will coordinate Capacity Planning and upgrades of software and hardwaredf-tc


Experience/Skills
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum 5 years of related experience. The candidate must have excellent written and oral communication skills and must work well in a team environment. The candidate must have a minimum of 4 years experience with the Teradata database system and utilities and be well versed in writing and evaluating complex SQL and a broad understanding of data warehouse concepts and techniques. Minimum of a bachelor's degree is required.

GENERAL SKILLS:

=C3=A2?=C2=A2 Experience with UNIX systems, architecture and shell/Perl scripting in Solaris and Linux environments
=C3=A2?=C2=A2 Thorough understanding of Teradata architecture and utilities
=C3=A2?=C2=A2 Thorough understanding of tuning Teradata RDBMS and SQL
=C3=A2?=C2=A2 Experience supporting data warehouse environment. Good communication skills, written and verbal

SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
=C3=A2?=C2=A2 Database Design: Working knowledge of security, system monitoring, tuning, physical database maintenance, back-up recover procedures, upgrades, logical and physical design of database.
=C3=A2?=C2=A2 Database Management: Working knowledge of database security, system monitoring, tuning, physical database maintenance, back-up and recovery procedures and upgrades.
=C3=A2?=C2=A2 Documentation: Enters, transcribes, records, stores or maintains information in written or electronic form .
=C3=A2?=C2=A2 Operations Analysis: Analyzes needs and product requirements to create a design.
=C3=A2?=C2=A2 Test Engineering: Creates, executes, and documents the tests necessary to assure that an application or technical environment meets user functional and performance requirements. May also included automation test tools.
