Roles and Responsibilities

  • Configuration and maintenance of databases on clustered Servers replicated across multiple data centers in a 24/7/365 high transaction environment.

  • Occasional out of hours maintenance and upgrade work

  • Maintenance and tuning of databases and replication

  • Converting all existing databases to SQL 2008

  • Production support, software maintenance, troubleshooting, and backup/recovery

  • Enterprise database architecture and guidance on database design

  • Various manual data changes including documentation

  • Troubleshoots Database, software and related systems

  • Advanced knowledge of SQL Profiler and server side traces helping Engineers to improve TSQL performance

  • Supports all Database systems in accordance with department guidelines

  • Establishes change request process and adheres to said process

  • Assumes and performs other duties and responsibilities not specifically outlined herein, but which are logically and properly inherent to this position. ?

  • Adherence to established disaster recovery policies and procedures - including, but not limited to backups, configuration/? change management, and database documentation. ?

  • Establish and Support a monitoring system to improve performance

Qualifications:



  • B S in Computer Science or equivalent

  • 4 years experience in the design and implementation of databases

  • 7 years senior level experience acting as a database administrator of Microsoft SQL Server 2000 or higher

  • 4 years experience with SQL Server 2005

  • SQL Server 2008 experience is a plus

  • Experience with performance tuning and replication

  • 5 ? years of Transact-SQL experience. ?

  • Strong experience on performance tuning, data integrity, data retention and efficiency. ?

  • Strong experience in data analysis and data input/? output processing. ?

  • Experience in migrating from SQL 2000 to SQL 2005 to SQL 2008

  • Experience in analyzing and writing complex queries and stored procedures

  • Must have experience with data modeling and architecture

  • Must be familiar with PCI and SAS70 regulatory compliance

  • Advanced relational development experience (i. ? e. ? normalization, referential integrity, stored procedure, Trigger)

  • Experience with clustering, replication, hardware replication, and disaster recovery

  • Strong working knowledge of log shipping, peer-to-peer replication, SQL partitioning, service brokers, monitoring and alarming

  • Strong hands-on technical aptitude

  • Certifications in specific technologies preferred but not required

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem resolution skills

  • Strong process experience preferred

  • Experience with employee benefit software development
