Description
Genesis10 has an exciting opportunity available. Our client has a Senior EDI Support Specialist position available. This is a three month contract to hire position. This vacancy could possibly convert to a full time salaried position, which would offer the full compliment of the clients competitive benefit package along with an excellent opportunity for personal growth. This person will provide technical support and serve as a special projects person, doing research and documentation to assist the development staffs in both EDI Gateway and Agilink.

Description of Services and Functional Duties:
. Technical Support - Serve as the primary point of contact for technical help for both internal and external requests.
. Need to have a broad range of knowledge in many subjects i.e. EDI, communications, programming languages, Web, E-mail, etc.
. Research - Research to be done for new functionality and to define and resolve problems or issues. Results of research to be documented for the development teams to use.
. Customer Contact - Make customer calls with sales staff when technical support is necessary. May handle some customer calls direct when assigned to a specific project or problem.
. Consulting - Provide support to other railroad departments regarding electronic messaging, communications, and application support.
. Documentation - Create functional specifications, presentations, system flows, etc. to be used for research and development.

Experience/Skills
Required Skills/Experience:
. EDI experience: ASC X12 familiarity.
. Knowledgeable of EDI X12 Standards (all releases up to and including release 5010).
. EDIFact familiarity.
. XML familiarity.
. MVS mainframe experience.
. COBOL knowledge required.
. Electronic communications, specifically FTP, experience.
. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
. A professional and courteous phone manner.
. The ability to learn quickly and react promptly.
. The ability to travel.
. Strong problem-solving skills and decision-making ability.
. Ability to define problems, collection of data, establishment of facts, and draw valid conclusions.
. Customer oriented resourceful and motivated personality.
. Railroad transportation industry knowledge required.
. Systems architecture experience should include mainframes, client server, and connectivity between diverse operating environments.
. Good understanding of the Internet and Web technologies.
. Ability to work congenially with a cross-functional team.
. Familiarity with Microsoft Applications (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, etc.). Windows operating system(s) experience.
