BASIC FUNCTION
Under the general direction of the Supervisor - Electrical and Control Engineering, the Senior Electrical Project Engineer will be responsible to implement projects within the Cast Iron Division. These will include major capital projects as well as revisions to or troubleshooting of existing equipment, systems, and processes. Many projects involve PLC programming and MMI computer based operator interfaces in addition to traditional electrical control and safety interlock circuits.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Project management for implementation of Capital, process improvement, and equipment upgrades. This includes development of concepts, proposals, timelines, budgets and paperwork to secure approval of project. After approval it involves procurement of equipment, documentation and drawings for installation, supervision of construction, detailed schedules, training of operation and maintenance personnel, documentation of related procedures, creation of PLC programming and operator interfaces as required, and administration of budget to complete project within approved amounts.
Design and implementation of safety and process improvements. This would involve troubleshooting of PLC programs, dedicated controllers, MMI software, safety circuitry, light curtains, analog and digital field devices, and etc. This often requires a hands on approach and involvement of production and maintenance personnel to arrive at the best solution.
Design and/or supervise the design of electrical systems and preparation of related AutoCad drawings. Review and evaluate electrical design drawings and specifications prepared by equipment vendors, consulting engineers, or others.
Help maintain proper documentation for PLC logic, Electrical and Control procedures and standards, operator interfaces, electrical drawings, and monitoring or control software.

Supervisory Relationships:
Reports to Supervisor Electrical and Control Engineering.
Guidance and training provided by other engineers within the Cast Iron Manufacturing Engineering group.
Provides guidance and training to other engineers and analysts within the Cast Iron Manufacturing Engineering group.
Organization Relationships:
Frequent contact with production operators and supervision to establish and review control and monitoring requirements for an operation. Also to establish related procedures and training.
Frequent contact with Maintenance group to establish details and background of problems and to review designs before installation. Also to establish related procedures and training.
Frequent contact with other engineers in group as required.
External Business Relationships:
Frequent contact with equipment and software vendors for design and application information or to troubleshoot problems.
Attend seminars and trade shows to stay current on related industry practices.
Visit suppliers or vendors for coordination of vendor work to related projects.

Education and/or years of experience normally required to fulfill the minimum requirements of this position are either:
Engineering BS Degree with 5 years of electrical or control engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
BSEE with 3 years related experience.
Specialized training will be provided as required.df-tc
