Location: Roanoke, VA

Responsibilities: This individual will function as the lead electronic engineer on integrated product teams tasked with the development of light weight, field robust night vision systems that can be integrated into the electronic battlefield. This position requires the ability to lead and participate in the design of analog and digital electronics subsystems and circuit card assemblies that will support the development of new hardware directly involving micro-display technology. At the senior level the engineer must be able to work with other engineers to best define the electronic functions of electro-optical components, circuit card assemblies and their interface to mechanical and optical parts.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

Analyze customer requirements and system functional allocations and translate them into electronic approaches that meet these requirements within the overall system context. Requirements include collecting Voice of the customer and consideration of Human Factors design principles.

Create portions of proposals, statements of work, design review presentations and design documents.

From concept to full production, perform new product development utilizing leading edge technologies.

Perform check out and debugging of electronic systems and circuit card assemblies. Assist in the mechanical assembly and debugging of prototype systems and assist manufacturing engineer/production during initial production system.

Mentor junior engineers and delegate task appropriate to their skills and experience.

Create briefing material and present the material as part of both internal and external design reviews.

Conduct and participate in peer design reviews for the more complex electronic designs and design approaches.

Requirements:

BSEE

Ability to design interface and implementation experience utilizing various COTS LCD and LED array panel technologies; micro-display experience a plus.

Familiarity with fundamental Electro-Optical principles with display systems.

Knowledge and experience using image and video processing algorithms and architectures.

High-speed CPLD and FPGA design experience (Altera and/or Xilinx): designs in VHDL or Verilog; Aldec or Mentor Graphics; circuit design using Allegro.

Ability to design using microprocessor and micro-controller implementation; Experience in embedded system, software development using assembly language and C/C++; Experience with MATLAB a plus.

Must have demonstrated performance in new product development from concept definition to production release using regimented documentation processes.

Must have experience in design of low power, ultra dense, miniature electronic assemblies.

Must be able to effectively communicate design and engineering requirements to customers, individuals and team members through requirements documents, ICD and/or presentations; Ability to work as part of a design team.

MS Office skills; Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point and Visio essential.

US Citizenship.

Ability to obtain and maintain a

US Government security clearance.
