Responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Under general direction, perform assignments requiring a broad understanding of engineering principles and a working knowledge of other related disciplines. Work in an integrated product team environment developing rocket propulsion systems.
75% - Conduct functional analysis to define rocket and air-breathing propulsion systems architecture and objectives. Perform rocket propulsion trade studies of both liquid and solid propellant systems in order to select optimum solutions that meet mission needs. Select concepts baselines that optimize cost/benefit trades. Conduct preliminary sizing of propulsion systems, and develop derived requirements of propulsion sub-systems and components. Define interfaces and mechanical integration using CAD tool. Develop design solutions through component selection methods that minimize development risk through use of prior qualification histories. Leads efforts for derivation of internal requirements, requirement allocation, and compliance management. Defines verification plans using customer requirements and contract statement of work (SOW). Provide system fault tolerance, health monitoring, and/or control system considerations in development. Conducts project risk assessments and prepares and reports results on compliance plans.
25% - Provide project leadership of the design team and communicates results in oral presentations and written communication. Balance technical, cost and schedule risks during development project to achieve successful outcomes.

Qualifications:
TYPICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelorâ€os degree in Engineering or appropriate discipline/science and 5 years of directly related technical experience in Engineering disciplines or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Advanced degree desirable. Working knowledge of CAD tools (UG or Pro-E) desirable.
