Description
Senior Enterprise Business Intelligence Engineers play a key role in developing and supporting University-wide state-of-the-art business intelligence systems and data warehousing capabilities for the University. Functions and responsibilities include:
Strategic analysis of business questions and identification of data needed to respond to those questions; Design of data models, data marts, and analytical objects to support enterprise information needs; Development and maintenance of analytical methods, processes, queries and reports that deliver business intelligence; Implementation, administration and maintenance of metadata management systems that document institutional knowledge; Development and coordination of business intelligence training and delivery with distributed decision support staff; Monitoring and auditing of business intelligence usage across the University; Administration and oversight of business intelligence tools and applications including licensing and security access controls; Close collaboration with other Enterprise Data Warehousing and DBA team members in data integration and data quality efforts.

Relevant Technologies:
Demonstrated expert knowledge, or certification in, a wide range of Cognos business intelligence suite of tools including Cognos 8 BI, Connection Manager, Framework Manager, Report Studio, Metrics Studio, Analysis Studio, Query Studio, Event Studio, or Cognos 7 ReportNet. Demonstrated knowledge and skills utilizing enterprise-wide relational databases (MS SQL Server, Oracle, IBM DB2, etc.) Demonstrated knowledge and skills in Entity Relational and Dimensional OLAP data modeling using tools like ER/Studio or ERWin. Demonstrated knowledge and working experience with scripting languages (VB & Java), and markup languages (HTML, XML)

Experience/Skills
Requirements:
Bachelor or higher degree, or equivalent experience in business administration, computer science or related field.

A minimum four years experience performing progressively more complex and responsible tasks involving development, implementation and support of enterprise-wide data warehousing and business intelligence systems.

Demonstrated expert knowledge, or certification in, a wide range of Cognos business intelligence suite of tools including Cognos 8 BI, Connection Manager, Framework Manager, Report Studio, Metrics Studio, Analysis Studio, Query Studio, Event Studio, or Cognos 7 ReportNet.

Familiarity with MS business intelligence tools including Microsoft Analysis Services, Reporting Services, and Integration Services

Demonstrated knowledge and skills utilizing enterprise-wide relational databases (MS SQL Server, Oracle, IBM DB2, etc.)

Demonstrated knowledge and skills in Entity Relational and Dimensional OLAP data modeling using tools like ER/Studio or ERWin.

Experience in .Net and/or Java web application development and web portlet development and integration

Demonstrated knowledge and working experience with scripting languages (VB & Java), and markup languages (HTML, XML)

Knowledge and experience with multiple business subject areas, i.e., HR, Financial, Purchasing, Student, etc..

Ability to quickly learn and apply new technologies and skills is essential.

Demonstrated excellent skills for client & interpersonal interaction as well as written & verbal communication.

Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Demonstrated ability to develop creative solutions for business and research needs.

Ability to train, mentor, and guide others to learn complex technical skills.

Tool friendly and team player attitudes.

Desired:
Experience in a major research university setting.
