Description
Responsibilities

  • Enhance and maintain the Swing-based user interface for a state-of-the-art equity derivatives trading system in production in New York and London.
  • Quickly and effectively implement new features, functionality, and changes?responsiveness is key. Short-term projects involve automating workflow associated with facilitating customer orders, including providing prices directly to sales traders, brokers and customers.
  • Conduct regression and new feature testing for GUI releases.
  • Communicate and work closely with other developers to meet project deadlines.
  • Provide technical guidance to junior developers.

    Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of all Swing components and APIs, with particular emphasis on large tabular datasets.
  • Minimum four years experience with Java/Swing.
  • Proven hands-on design and implementation experience in high-volume, high-performance real-time information visualization systems, including a detailed understanding of Swing data models.
  • Ability to balance multiple concurrent projects and tasks.
  • Undergraduate degree in computer science or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Familiarity with techniques and strategies for GUI performance tuning and optimization.
  • Solid object-oriented design skills; knowledge of MVC and other relevant design patterns.
  • Firm understanding of Java 1.4 core APIs, including collections, multi-threading, JavaBeans, and XML technologies.
  • Excellent communication, requirements gathering, and teamwork skills.
  • Experience in financial services a major plus, but other relevant industries will be considered based on project depth.
  • Formal usability/human factors training also a plus.df-tc
