Senior Hardware Design Engineer (Medical Devices)
Solectron Corporation is seeking a senior-level Hardware Design Engineer in Charlotte, NC to design and develop hardware systems for medical devices. The Senior Hardware Design Engineer will provide technical leadership in definition, architecture, component/vendor selection to meet required specifications for hardware design projects involving medical devices. Technical leadership will involve detail design, analysis, prototyping and validation. The principle job duties are as follows:
Work with senior management to conduct a product development and feasibility study for medical devices.
Provide estimates for effort, duration and cost for proposed projects.
Provide design direction to hardware engineering design team on a variety of electronic circuits including microprocessor, digital, power supply, and amplifiers.
Manage the CAD, layout and place & route activities.
Generate schematics, select and document parts, and generate other engineering documentation as required.
Ensure that PCB assemblies meet DFT & DFM standards.
Participate in design reviews for, as required, for hardware designs.
Provides a regular report of activities, accomplishments, issues, and the status of projects.

Required Skills and Experience:
This position requires a minimum BSEE, 10-12 or MSEE, 7-10 years hardware design experience for medical devices and/or medical systems.
Experience with medical products and services, adhering to FDA and ISO process requirements.
5+ years experience as a team or technical project leader, demonstrating an ability to organize and lead complex hardware product development tasks.
Proven ability to deliver complex hardware design projects from specification through to production on time and within budget.
Proven ability to understand intellectual property specifications and define, architect and implement hardware design activities.
ASIC/FPGA Design, Board Layout, Simulation, Timing Analysis, Test and Characterization;
Expert-level experience using Cadence and/or OrCAD board layout tools such as Allegro or PCB.
Proven ability to learn fast, an ability to absorb and process new information very quickly;
Strong communication and interpersonal skills;
Ability to interact well with marketing, product development, vendors, and partners;
Proven ability to communicate at the right level for a variety of audiences, speaking directly to their interests and concerns;
Strong analysis skills. Must be able to apply a strong understanding of both technical and business considerations to make tradeoffs in determining project direction and approach.
