Description
We are currently seeking a Senior Unix/Linux Administrator and Perl Developer. The Unix/Linux Administrator is responsible for the daily management and operations of the various *nix environments. Responsibilities include system design, setup, configuration, and developing/maintaining standards. Has knowledge of commonly used concepts, best practices, and procedures within the *nix field. The administrator relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Requires a solid understanding of a HPUX, RedHat Linux and/or Solaris operating systems. Resource will assist with ongoing support of *nix environment. After-hours and weekend work will be required. Resource will be provided a laptop and cell phone. Requirements:

Able to write and debug shell/Perl scripts Excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills Conducts systems programming and systems support activities, such as new or revised program language codes, processing routines and report generators. Monitors effective language codes, processing routines, hardware use and use of database management techniques. Modifies, maintains and updates software, such as compilers, link editors, assemblers, OEM utilities, macros, scripts and scripts and subroutines. This is performed through a practice of Change Management, Configuration Management and Release Management. Develops and reviews operator and control instructions. Prepares and conducts system and programming test requiring interfacing of hardware and software. Conducts programming task including program design, program coding, debugging and documentation. As directed, prepares feasibility studies and designs tests to determine operating characteristics of software. Designs and implements hardware and software solutions into the managed environments to meet customer needs. Performs routine monitoring, administration, repair and maintenance of the products within the managed environments. Responsible for maintaining Service Delivery to meet customer Service Level requirements. This includes Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity planning, data security and recovery, and Production level policies and procedures. Responsible for capacity management, expansion and growth planning Preferred college degree and 2 years professional experience or 5 years of professional experience in lieu of degree. Requires good oral and written communication skills to work effectively with others inside and outside departmental boundaries, at remote locations and/or outside the company. Requires proficiency with PC software applications, E-mail and job associated applications/systems. Requires good organization skills to produce quality work, within required specifications, to meet tight schedules. Job requires initiative and ability to influence events, rather than passively accepting them, in order to achieve goals. This means being proactive and a self-starter and going beyond specific job responsibilities to ensure goals are achieved or exceeded.df-tc
