Description
Our client is seeking a Senior IT Architect in Salt Lake City, Utah. Responsibilities:
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for the development and delivery of project system requirements document, conceptual, logical architectures and logical design, and will ensure that the physical design and configuration of the delivered solutions are in direct alignment with the logical design
  • The successful candidate in this position will collaborate with the product managers, software architects and engineers, infrastructure engineers and administrators, project managers, and management to provide the required technical solution
  • He/she will provide technical leadership to the project's technical resources, which could include software architects, systems engineers, infrastructure engineers, and security and business continuity specialists, in delivering a well designed and engineered solution that is integrated with the existing or defined IT architecture and services framework, and meets clearly defined technical performance requirements
  • He or she will be responsible for providing architectural guidance on large, complex solution development, and system integration. This position is responsible for developing and nurturing working relationships with technical and sales representatives of strategic vendors of hardware, software, and professional services
  • This position is also responsible for developing and nurturing consensus and working relationships with internal technical stake holders to ensure coordination and integration in IT projects and programs
  • This position is expected to promote the development and reuse of common solutions, components and services as well as a consistent integration approach for all FamilySearch Infrastructure
  • He or she is expected to ensure technical solutions leverage industry best practices and minimize the total cost of ownership

Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or a related field or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Demonstrated experience in Strategy, Planning, and Architecture
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with large corporate IT operations, major IT programs, systems integration and technical architecture at Enterprise and inter-enterprise levels
  • Demonstrated experience and understanding of business requirements and the process of translating them into well-engineered and integrated technical solutions
  • Must have strong oral and written communication skills, and be customer focused to understand and appropriately respond to customers' business needs
  • Demonstrated ability to interface effectively and collaborate with Software Architects and Developers, Infrastructure Engineers and Administrators, vendors, peers, and management to develop solutions and ensure stakeholder buy-in
  • Demonstrated ability to generate mathematical and statistical based data analysis models to support architectural and engineering decisions
Preferred Experience: The scale of the Client infrastructure assumes millions of users and terabytes of structured information and tens of petabytes of image data and thousands of servers. For these reasons the desired candidate should have several years of experience architecting and building infrastructures that include:
  • Enterprise class large SMP Servers (eg Sun M9000 or larger)
  • Enterprise class Databases with more than 4TB of synchronized storage handling thousands of transactions per second
  • 5000+ slot tape libraries
  • Multiple petabyte Enterprise Storage Arrays (Hitachi, EMC, DDN)
  • Multi-switch, 1000+ port SAN fabrics
  • 10 GbE LAN infrastructure design
  • High Performance Computing class clusters of 500+ nodes
