Job Summary:The Sr. IT Business Analyst provides leadership for the strategic as well as day-to-day operational functions of IT Business Analysis activities. Works closely with Business Area Management and IT to evaluate, prioritize, and manage business information systems objectives and requirements. The BA is a direct link between IT and the business, having significant knowledge in subject matters pertaining to both IT and the business. The BA is responsible to understand the business, assist in the early definition and prioritization of applications projects, ensure that applications projects provide maximum return on investment, and drive IT systems strategy in support of the overall corporate and divisional business goals. Charters and plans application system projects to achieve business objectives and opportunities. Directs, leads, and advises staff; utilizing planning, analytical, and tool set knowledge & skills to effectively assess, define, implement and deliver systems & solutions to the business in the SAP environment. Identifies problems and helps others develop creative business solutions to a wide-range of complex problems. Actively communicates, promotes and consistently demonstrates Company Values and fosters an environment of trust, teamwork and innovation. Excellent project management, analysis, and communication skills required. Good understanding of the steel industry and good working knowledge of the SAP environment. Job Responsibilities:* Consults with senior client management to identify and prioritize current and future information system needs; develop strategic system goals and plans for future solutions development initiatives to meet those needs both in SAP and in satellite systems. Ensure alignment with Business plan and directions. Researches and recommends innovative business solutions to meet information requirements. Develops preliminary project plans with business clients, facilitates creation of project team and oversees successful project execution. * Manages applications project portfolio activities for IT projects by working closely with the business areas, Application Development Managers and other IT management to evaluate, prioritize and manage business requirements and IT based requests. Builds & maintains relationships and defines goals by advising on the efficient utilization of systems; provide training and manage the change to implement new processes. * Manages multiple, complex tasks and projects; analyzes complex business systems issues and works effectively with all levels of client management; able to effectively lead cross-functional groups to achieve IT and business plans and goals. * Leads business process re-engineering efforts to improve client business processes and practices to be more effective, more streamlined and more efficient and to develop a high-performing business area with an enhanced ability to respond to their business needs. Applies technical and business knowledge in the analysis of client business operating models to provide innovative approaches to solutions support and operational readiness assessment; prepares appropriate documentation to communicate and validate the proposed solution. Provides change management expertise by working with client personnel to effect positive change in business processes and new SAP/other information system usage, using process improvement and change management principles. * Communicates with business area leads and managers, users and IT associates regularly to keep them informed of project requests, progress and status. * Assists in the development of long-term IT/Application Systems strategy consistent with Corporate and divisional plans and goals. * Responsible for development of business area systems project budgets/costs estimates and assists in the development of the IT fiscal budget. Prepares reports and manages budgets & cost estimates at the departmental and project level. * Assesses and improves IT department policies and procedures and helps to assemble an IT team focused on providing superior systems capabilities to internal customers. Works with employees to develop objectives. Develops and implements plans for IT staff training and development. * Performs other related duties as assigned.
