CDI has a HOT/Immediate need for a Sr. Java Architect

The Architect will provide architectural vision and guidance to his/her assigned team. As the architect will be able to provide technical guidance and mentoring in appropriate application of technology, designs, and patterns.

Provides technical leadership and vision to his/her colleagues. He/she researches and establishes architectural solutions that meet bioMerieux=E2=80=99s business needs. He/she communicates these architectures and associated technologies to all teams, and ensures that each team is applying the architectures and technologies correctly.

The Java Architect will be expected to have the skills to balance technical, quality, and schedule goals; as well as strong =E2=80=9Chands on=E2=80=9D programming skills. Since this role has a leadership and visionary component, the individual in this role must be an excellent communicator.

Able to provide his management with advice on appropriate architectures and solutions, and work closely with his/her assigned projects to assure their proper application of architecture and technology.

Advises management on appropriate architectures to achieve business goals.

Creates architectural frameworks and mentors team members in their application.

Mentors team members in design, technology, and processes.

Provide his/her leadership with schedule information, timely status, and design input.

Mentors team members in Object-oriented design.

Mentors team members in an Object-oriented language such as Java or C++.
Mentors team members in use of database technology.

Experience:
BS in Computer Science or related discipline. MS is strongly preferred.
5+ years of object-oriented analysis, design, and programming experience.
5+ years of programming experience in Java and 3+ years experience developing J2EE applications. At least 1 year of experience programming in C++.
5+ years experience with database development and E-R modeling.
10+ years of software development experience.
Past experience with Hibernate (or similar O-R Mapping framework) and Spring Framework preferred. .

Ability to mentor team members in applying UML to design initiatives.
Extensive experience using JUnit for building automated unit tests. Experience with Test-Driven Development preferred. Extensive experience with OO methodologies such as the Unified Process. Experience with agile methodologies preferred.
Ability to mentor team members in applying software development processes to assigned tasks.
Experience at mentoring team members in design and enterprise architectural patterns.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Must be highly motivated and a good team player. Should be able to work in ambiguous situations with limited direction.
