Job DescriptionOur client in the Deerfield Beach area is looking for a senior Linux Administrator / Engineer. Capable of providing LAN administration support. Responsible for performing Senior Systems Engineering and Administration across Linux, Windows and database platforms; Virtualization experience; applying full life cycle management of systems; designing, implementing, and documenting cost effective solutions to a multi-platform environment.Required Experience3 to 5+ years of increasing experience in Linux Administration and/or network systems integration and systems applications. Must be well versed in all aspects of LAN/WAN/MAN standards and architectures. Formal Linux certification is a plus Tasks:• Administer the daily operations of the Linux servers used for both Internet and Extranet applications and support mechanisms including, but not limited to: Apache, QMail, Oracle, MySQL, and Asterisk • Design and code applications to assist in system maintenance and process automation using languages including, but not limited to: Python, Perl, PHP. • Administer and troubleshoot firewalls, DNS servers and load balancers. • Administer Asterisk open source telephony platform. • Project manage outsourced help desk staff.• Troubleshoot Linux systems efficiently and effectively. • Provide continuous follow-up through completion of trouble calls or projects. • Create and document standard configurations and BCPs to ensure all systems are compliant with both corporate security standards and external audit guidelines. • Configure and upgrade system hardware, including: memory, disk, network interfaces and processors. • Proactively monitor systems and tune as necessary while providing guidance on upgrade requirements. • Perform general Linux administration and user support functions as well as complex administration tasks such as security audits, software patching/upgrades, performance tuning and quality assurance. • Manage outsourced vendor relationships with the administration of systems and network devices. • Evaluate new server and security hardware, software products, and LAN/WAN technologies and report on their applicability in terms of the needs of the Company. • Assist in architecting new network topologies to address the changing needs of the company.
