One of our clients is looking for a Senior Linux Administrator. This person will be responsible for....
-Creating a strong support structure to maintain our client's RTSM Platform in all LINUX environments.
-Identify and implement system and application enhancements to prevent outages, with a goal of 100% uptime.
-Share 24x7 on call responsibility and off-hour support with LINUX Administrators as well as being available for all staff.
-Act quickly and decisively with regards to any escalated challenges the teams may have.
-Participate in developing overall technology strategy and infrastructure planning.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Perform installation, upgrades, and patches to enterprise and departmental size LINUX Servers.
-Maintain availability and optimal performance of all LINUX Servers.
-Develop capacity monitoring strategy and management procedures.
-Review and enhance operational procedures within the LINUX environment and ensure their compliance across our client's platform.
-Create detailed method of procedures for all changes; coordinate with internal teams for implementation.
-Proactively identify and correct issues to ensure the stability of production platform.
-Troubleshoot production issues and escalate as needed.
-Ensure platforms redundancy, performance, and uptime requirements.
-Provide 24x7 support as scheduled.

Projects:
-Represent Systems Operations team with internal customers as needed. Keeping Management Team informed of the status and escalate as needed.
-Participate in system architecture planning activities.
-Review new product and service requirements, evaluate the feasibility, and recommend architectural changes if needed.
-Evaluate new technologies and 3rd party solutions that enhance our client's database infrastructure.
-Work with various technical departments during development and implementation of new services or changing existing architectures.

REQUIREMENTS:
-BS in Computer Science or equivalent discipline required.
-Ability to act independently to determine methods and procedures on new or special assignments.
-Ability to independently and collaboratively provide methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
-Minimum eight (8) years experience in supporting production systems.
-Demonstrated history of providing 24x7 support.
-Ability to solve complex problems
-Redhat LINUX Enterprise class licenses (WS/ES/AS).
-LINUX High Availability Cluster required.
-Knowledge of RDBMS required. (Oracle preferred)
-Veritas Volume Manager required.
-Veritas Netbackup a plus.
-EMC Symmetrix experience required.
-Proficient with desktop applications (Visio, MS Word, Excel) a plus.
-Sun/HP/IBM LINUX High- and mid-level servers and blades.
-HP UX OS and Systems.
-EMC Symmetrix and DMX technology.
-Ability to act quickly and decisively under pressure and escalate critical issues per escalation process and procedure
-Ability to change focus and change direction as business needs change
