Description


Adecco Technical & Engineering is seeking an experienced Senior Linux Systems Administrator for our client in downtown Portland, Oregon.

Job Title: Senior Linux System Administrator

Responsibilities

Provide senior-level platform support of our client's production & dev/QA environments
Ensure proper and timely incident handling, troubleshooting, communication and escalation
Ensure timely and on-spec completion of Sysadmin service requests and projects
Interface with other technical and non-technical departments to accomplish business goals
Create and maintain detailed system and process documentation
Participate in the client's Change Management process and maintenance windows
Assist with capacity and performance planning and system design
Periodic on-call rotation


Skills and Experience

5 years related experience resolving customer incidents and requests in a data center/NOC environment
Excellent working knowledge of Linux commands, JBoss, Apache Web Server and Apache Tomcat
Strong working knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS and networking concepts
Good working knowledge of Postfix, Sendmail, SMTP, POP3, DKIM, SPF, FBL, RBL, etc.
Programming skills with languages such as Java, Perl and SQL
Experience with Oracle databases, Oracle Reports, BI (MicroStrategy) desired
Project Management training a plus
Advanced Linux system administration knowledge and skills
Working knowledge of Message Systems (Ecelerity) MTAs, Commtouch email filtering or SignCert ETS highly desirable
Experience with Check Point firewalls and F5 Big-IP desired
General knowledge of 3PAR storage, NetApp or Veritas Netbackup a plus

Education


Linux certification (Red Hat, LPI, Novell) preferred
Thrive in a fast paced, challenging work environment
Possess a deep understanding of UNIX systems
Utilize a scientific, fact-based approach to work and troubleshooting
Posess experience in creating & maintaining complex system documentation
Have a demonstrated ability to lead and train others
Possess a demonstrated ability to precisely follow directions and to work collaboratively with others to achieve business goals
Possess and use excellent interpersonal and written/oral communication skills when interacting with peers, management, users and vendors
Drug, background and employment verification required
Bachelor degree in Computer Science or related discipline, or technical school certification with advanced experience
