We are looking for an individual with solid experience in Linux system administration and architectural design of highly available, scalable, distributed systems. An ideal candidate should have a minimum of five years of experience in an environment with at least 30 Linux/Unix systems. The candidate would be familiar with High Availability and Clustering techniques. In addition, an ideal candidate would have achieved a minimum of a Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience. Closely related experience with coding, managing operating systems, and performance analysis.

Responsibilities:
Candidate should be comfortable with any Linux distribution and other Unix OS's like FreeBSD and Solaris. In addition, candidate should have a broad knowledge of available open source technologies but remain comfortable using proprietary solutions where they make sense.

Storage architecture and peripherals especially NAS

All popular RAID variants

Unix Shell scripting (sh/bash/etc)
Perl, Python, PHP scripting, CGI, PL/SQL
Minimal C/C++

Software (mostly Open Source):

Databases (e.g. MySQL, Oracle. PostgreSQL preferred)

Mail systems (e.g. SMTP mailers, Qmail, Postfix, Sympa, Procmail)

Webservices (e.g. Apache, Tomcat)

Backup systems (e.g. Bacula)

Support for High Availability computing (load balancing, redundancy)

Source control (e.g. git, mercurial, svn, cvs)

Networking - Deep understanding of TCP/IP, UDP/IP, Ethernet, routing, and other technologies that make up the Internet.

Networked filesystems (e.g. NFS)
Gigabit networking with Foundry routers/switches
Understanding of issues with data located at geographically separate locations.

Bacula, MySQL, Debian, Gentoo, RHEL, TCP/IP, Foundry, Perl/Python/PHP, Apache, Tomcat

Experience compiling Linux/Unix kernels and kernel modules

Software management (e.g. RPM, yum, apt, etc.)

Large complex storage solutions

Ability to research complex problems and find open source solutions

Analyzing and debugging a wide variety of hardware and software problems (solid troubleshooting skill set)

Knowledge of systems and storage architecture and peripherals especially NAS
