Senior Linux Systems EngineerLocation: San Jose, California Job Description: FusionOne is looking for an energetic and experienced Senior Linux Systems Engineer to join its Operations team. FusionOne team members are involved in every facet of our production site, from design issues to troubleshooting, performance analysis to capacity planning, from DNS to networking to application management. The Senior Linux Systems Engineer will be part of the operations team that is ultimately responsible for making sure our service is always up and active. As a part of the FusionOne team, you will wear many hats for our entire production site: first responder, performance analyst, service architect, system administrator, capacity planner, tools developer, monitoring expert, and technical evangelist.Job Responsibilities:*
  • Administer and manage a 24/7 Red Hat Linux and CentOS environment.*
  • Administer VMWare ESX servers.*
  • Develop automation via scripting in Shell, PHP, or Python.*
  • Storage management of both SAN and NAS/NFS infrastructures.*
  • Provide technical troubleshooting and performance tuning experience.*
  • Participate in periodic on-call duty as well as out-of-band requests.*
  • Provide server designs and configure and install servers and storage.*
  • Troubleshoot and resolve server problems. *
  • Provide system service problem resolution for issues identified by Customer Care and Network Operations Centers *
  • Help develop, improve and test FusionOnen++s incident response procedures.*
  • Provide solution requirements to develop and extend monitoring tools for devices under management.*
  • Help design and implement new technical solutions.*
  • Identify all security issues with regards to networks under management and respond to those issues accordingly.*
  • Work within a defined a Change Control process.*
  • Coordinate and oversee maintenance and changes to the production environment.*
  • Develop and update processes and procedures.*
  • Coordinate documentation efforts. *
  • Work effectively with cross-functional teams to define technical requirements, identify/resolve technical issues, and guarantee that we have timely security information that will help protect all FusionOne systems.*
  • Ensure that products and services meet FusionOnen++s overall security objectives. *
  • Provide data and statistical information upon request in relation to system and security activities.Technical Skills: *
  • Minimum of 5 years of demonstrated experience in a large-scale, high-traffic web serving Linux environment *
  • Strong experience working with CentOS and /or Red Hat Linux, AS and ES*
  • Strong Experience with VMWare ESX 3.0*
  • Direct experience building and configuring a wide range of server hardware including Penguin, HP and SUN servers*
  • Experienced in server and storage design, operational support, hands-on implementation and configuration of server infrastructures*
  • Knowledge of load balancers and Squid Proxy servers*
  • An understanding of cabling standards, IP address management, VPN, Firewall, load-balancing, network security, and network management platforms.*
  • BS in Computer Science/Information Technology or equivalent experience *
  • Ability to develop network architecture and documentation using Microsoft Word, Excel, Visio, etc.*
  • Experience in configuring and installing storage technologies such as Brocade/Mcdata SAN switches, Compellent/OnStor/EMC HW*
  • Experience defining and implementing best practices network security. *
  • Experience in auditing network security compliance.*
  • Current CCNE, CNA, CISSP or equivalent knowledge desired. Personal Skills:*
  • Ability to handle emergency situations in a calm and directed fashion, and work with teams in such situations as needed.*
  • Ability to multi-task and handle interrupt driven environment.*
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills. *
  • Must posses an exceptional problem solving, critical thinking and analytical skills to troubleshoot and resolve project issues and challenges. *
  • Strong attention to detail and deadline orientation. *
  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.*
  • Proven track record in delivering complex projects on time, on budget with high quality results. *
  • Ability to effectively pull together cross-functional resources in an effort to deliver beyond the expectations of FusionOnen++s customers. *
