Job Title: Senior MCSE Exchange Migration Specialist
General Description:
Employee will work with a solutions provider partner to a major Fortune 500 company and will be the lead on-site technician and subject matter expert conducting an engagement to migrate an existing Exchange Email environment to a new clustered Exchange 2003 Email infrastructure. This will entail extensive assessment of the current Information Technology Infrastructure and design/planning efforts to minimize risk and ensure no interruption in business operations.

This is an Exchange upgrade in a Windows 2000 ADS environment. The customer sees this being:

' PHASE 1 ACCOUNT FOR 2 CO-EXISTANCE
' PHASE 2 SETUP NEW FRONT END ON EXCHANGE 2003. ESTABLISH COMMUNICATIONS WITH CURRENT EXCHANGE 2000 SERVERS. VERIFY COMMUNICATIONS
' PHASE 3 ACTIVE - ACTIVE SERVER CLUSTER WITH PASSIVE BACKEND SUPPORTING EXCHANGE 2003 FOR ORGANIZATION

The proposal we are submitting for this encompasses the following methodology - internal use only.

Phase 1: Assessment 3 Days
We will conduct an assessment of the current Exchange and Windows Active Directory architecture to ensure the environment is adequate for the solution.

We expect to work collaboratively with the various Customer representatives to understand the overall organization needs. Based on our past experience, broad participation in the process of requirements analysis and design is essential to a successful project. We anticipates conducting these meetings in Customer location offices exclusively.

It will be Customer's responsibility to schedule the appropriate resources for our requirements analysis and design meetings. Should delays in scheduling Customer resources arise, we may need additional time/fees to complete this task.

During this phase, some of the specifics elements that we will examine include:
' Determine key players
' Perform a detailed IT infrastructure analysis
' Evaluate the current Email system
' Evaluate current directory structure
' Document the current Email system and directory structure
' Create the detailed Assessment and Requirements Findings deliverable

Phase 2: Design and Planning 4 Days
After the first phase, design a comprehensive Exchange 2003 Upgrade implementation plan based on the Discovery and Assessment done on Phase 1. It will include the following areas of focus:

' Review the following:
' Best Practices Recommendations and Implementation for Exchange 2003
' Exchange 2003 rollout and support considerations
' Exchange 2003 Security models
' Storage, fault tolerance and backup strategies
' Discuss deployment considerations with project sponsor
' Discuss future Windows 2003 Active Directory migration strategies with an Exchange 2003 Infrastructure functioning under Windows 2000 ADS
' Develop detailed Exchange 2003 Migration Plan
' Develop detailed Exchange 2003 Recovery Plan
' Identify the pilot test group for the Proof of Concept
' Review detailed Exchange 2003 Migration Plan and the Exchange 2003 Recovery Plan with the project sponsor for approval to proceed to the Proof of Concept phase

Phase 3: Proof of Concept 5 Days

Assist Customer with the Proof of Concept of upgrading the current Exchange 2000 environment to Exchange 2003 based on Customer's plans and our recommendations outlined from the Architecture and Design in Phase 2.

The anticipated tasks for this phase include:

' Implement any required network changes to support the Proof of Concept
' Install the Exchange 2003 test lab environment to include cluster and SAN configurations (if applicable)
' Utilize the pilot group to test for business continuity
' Review results and adjust the migration plan as appropriate
' Repeat the test migration until satisfactory results are obtained
' Perform a test recovery for the server Operating System migration
' Perform a test recovery for the Exchange server upgrade
' Review results and adjust the migration plan and recovery plans as appropriate
' Document Exchange 2003 Server backup strategy and add to Disaster Recovery plan
' Obtain sign-off on the migration plans
' Obtain sign-off on the recovery plans
' Identify mailbox move schedule for Limited Production Pilot and Full Production Pilot
' Obtain sign-off from the project sponsor to proceed to the Limited Prdf-tc
